"River Dweller" Framed Blockprint Image
Medium: Printmaking (blockprint)

About the Artist:
My work is the visual culmination of a childhood spent barefoot in the North Carolina woods and a lifelong pursuit of all things exquisite. Days spent in creeks with the water dancing around my ankles. Spring afternoons spent at my grandmother's house eating muscadines off the vine. The familiar, nostalgic scent of grape hyacinth growing in the shade of the yellow bell bush. Summer nights chasing the light of fireflies and catching toads in jars. Collecting stones and moss and cicada shells: trinkets and treasures of nature. Sketching the images of my word in the dirt with a stick. These foundations form my artistic practice: the intersection at which the natural world meets the intrinsic human need for encounters with the divine. I experience nature as a portal: a threshold that leads into the holy and the sacred.

That threshold is visually manifested by my artwork, which is often informed by biological illustration, botany, entomology, malacology, and the general study of the natural environment.
